Porto Velho athletes selected for 2026 Intermunicipal Games, Roraima weightlifters compete nationally

Porto Velho held municipal selections in capoeira, chess and jiu‑jitsu to choose athletes for the 2026 Jogos Intermunicipais de Rondônia. The events, organized by the city's Secretariat of Tourism, Sports and Leisure, took place on July 18‑19 and featured local competitors aiming to represent the capital in the state's biggest sporting competition.

Meanwhile, a delegation of seven weightlifters from Roraima traveled to São Paulo to take part in the second phase of the national Paralympic weightlifting circuit. The athletes will compete at the Brazilian Paralympic Training Center alongside 170 peers from 17 Brazilian states, with live streaming of the event on the Paralympic Committee's YouTube channel.

Both events underscore growing participation in regional and Paralympic sports across Brazil, with local authorities highlighting the role of sport in inclusion, health and community pride.
