Portugal and Brazil report progress on public funding programmes

Portugal’s PT 2030 plan has executed 19% of its allocated funds by May, amounting to €4.3 billion out of more than €12.8 billion approved. The report details that the People 2030, Technical Assistance 2030 and Sea 2030 programmes account for the largest shares of the spending, while 1410 calls for proposals have been launched with 220 still open. Payments to beneficiaries have exceeded €4.6 billion, and 27 EU Member States have so far received €60.5 billion in interim payments, of which €2.56 billion was transferred from Brussels to Portugal.

In Brazil, the Ministry of Education extended the deadline for schools to join the PDDE Equidade programme to 3 July. The programme, which aims to reduce educational inequalities, kept its 2026 budget at the same level as 2025 after a 92% financial execution rate. Funds are allocated to PDDE Water, Field and Agro‑ecology (R$ 93 million), PDDE Diversities (R$ 84.9 million) and the Multifunctional Resource Rooms (R$ 200.3 million). Guidance for state, municipal and school managers on the new enrollment process has been published by the MEC.
