Portugal and Brazil Tax Authorities Issue Alerts and Cashback for Millions of Taxpayers
Portugal's Tax and Customs Authority is sending electronic alerts to around 1.5 million foreign‑resident taxpayers, predominantly Brazilians, reminding them to file the IRS Annex J for any income or bank accounts held abroad. The notification sets a deadline of 30 June for regularisation, which can be completed online.
Brazil's Federal Revenue announced an automatic cashback scheme that will transfer up to R$1,000 via Pix to roughly 4 million eligible contributors who are not required to file a 2025 income‑tax return but are entitled to a refund. The payment is scheduled for 15 July 2026 as part of a special restitution lot.
