Portugal and Madeira face returning rain and cooler temperatures
Weather forecasts for mainland Portugal and Madeira indicate a shift in conditions toward the end of August. Following several weeks of predominant heat, Atlantic atmospheric circulation is expected to bring more unstable weather, including a return of rain between August 24 and August 31. This precipitation is expected to be most frequent in the northern and northwestern regions of the mainland.
In Madeira, the IPMA predicts mostly cloudy skies with light showers, particularly on the northern slopes and in higher elevations. Wind speeds are expected to range between 10 and 30 km/h, though they may reach up to 40 km/h in mountainous areas and at the eastern and western extremes of the island. Temperatures in Madeira are expected to fluctuate between 23°C and 28°C, while sea waves are forecasted to be between 1 and 2 meters.
