Portugal announces IRS tax cuts and pension supplements

The Portuguese government has announced several fiscal measures, including a reduction in IRS income tax for the first six brackets, which is expected to increase net income for taxpayers in the final months of the year. Additionally, pensioners will receive an extraordinary supplement in December, with amounts ranging from 100 to 200 euros depending on their pension bracket.

These announcements follow a period of political tension involving a motion of censure called by the Chega party regarding Minister Luís Neves. Prime Minister Luís Montenegro managed to shift the political focus toward these economic measures, effectively navigating the immediate political crisis by addressing issues of direct financial impact for citizens.
