Portugal approves uniform treatment for Storm Kristin recovery workers

The Portuguese Council of Ministers has approved a decree-law to ensure uniform treatment for workers performing supplementary work in response to Storm Kristin. This measure applies to workers in central and local public administration, as well as the state and local business sectors.

The exceptional regime will be applied from January 28 to June 28, covering the period of the declared calamity. This ensures a consistent framework for all personnel involved in responding to the storm's effects.

Previously, the government established a temporary regime of administrative and financial simplification to assist in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of heritage and infrastructure in affected municipalities. Under this framework, supplementary work for the specified sectors was exempt from the legal limits typically set by the General Labor Law in Public Functions and the Labor Code.
