Portugal delays national exam reappraisal results due to digital assessment issues

The Portuguese Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MECI) has announced a delay in the release of second-phase national exam reappraisal results. Originally scheduled for August 28, the results for 9th-grade exams will now be released on September 9, followed by national exam results on September 14.

The delay stems from technical issues encountered during the digital assessment process in the first phase, which increased the workload for teachers and staff. These complications led to a surge in grade review requests and the creation of an extraordinary exam period. Education Minister Fernando Alexandre noted that the delay should not impact access to higher education, as the second-phase application period ends on September 20.

In the Azores, the Regional Government reported that 414 students have submitted requests for reappraisal of the first-phase exams. Of these, 342 requests cover the entirety of the exams and are subject to a fee, while 72 requests focus specifically on potential calculation or item-selection errors and do not require payment. Regional officials stated they are coordinating with the National Jury of Exams to minimize the impact of these national assessment constraints on local students.
