Portugal education ministry says exam correction glitches will not harm students

The National Association of Directors of Public Schools (Andaep) rejected any responsibility for the technical and organisational failures reported in the digital correction of Portugal's national exams, blaming the Institute of Education, Quality and Assessment (EduQA) and the National Exam Jury (JNE). Andaep said schools had complied with all procedures and called for stronger support mechanisms to avoid “unnecessary unrest” among teachers, students and families.

Education Minister Fernando Alexandre assured that the correction process would stay within the scheduled ten‑day window and that “no student will be harmed”. He warned that the problems are being resolved and that the ministry remains on track.

Chega party leader André Ventura condemned the government for shirking accountability, urging Prime Minister Luís Montenegro to “understand the country” and take responsibility for the exam issues, likening the situation to the government’s handling of fuel prices.
