Portugal expands Green Railway Pass to Lisbon and Porto

The Green Railway Pass (Passe Ferroviário Verde) is set to expand to the metropolitan areas of Lisbon and Porto starting in September. Announced by Luís Montenegro, the monthly pass will cost 20 euros.

The expansion applies to urban train lines covered by the Navegante and Andante intermodal passes. This allows commuters who exclusively use trains to purchase the specific railway pass rather than the broader intermodal options. According to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing, the existing Navegante and Andante titles will remain available without changes to their current rules or conditions.

The Green Railway Pass remains valid across the entire national rail network, with the exception of Alfa Pendular services and 1st class Intercidades services.
