Portugal government extends corporate tax filing deadline to June 30

Portugal's Ministry of Finance announced that the deadline for companies to submit the 2025 corporate income tax return (Modelo 22) has been extended to 30 June, moving it from the original 31 May and a previous extension to 19 June. The decree, signed by Secretary of State for Fiscal Affairs Cláudia Reis Duarte, states the extension is granted “without any additional charges or penalties”.

The measure aims to accommodate “exceptional circumstances resulting from a succession of storms” that disrupted normal account‑closing procedures. To date more than 500 000 declarations have been filed, leaving roughly 100 000 still pending. Authorities argue the additional time will improve compliance, reduce material errors and avoid later corrections, benefiting both taxpayers and tax administration.
