Portugal tourism body receives government pledge to end airport queues

The Confederation of Tourism of Portugal (CTP) said its president, Francisco Calheiros, met with Interior Minister Luís Neves and was given firm assurances that the government will act quickly to ease the long passenger queues at Lisbon, Faro and Porto airports. The minister acknowledged the problem caused by the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) and promised close coordination with ANA – Aeroportos, as well as an increase in PSP police presence at the airports, to prevent disruptions during the peak summer tourism season. Calheiros warned that continued delays could damage Portugal’s image and hurt the tourism sector, which is a major driver of the national economy.

The CTP expects the promised measures to be implemented urgently and effectively, aiming to restore a smooth travel experience for tourists entering the country.
