Portugal Health Minister Ana Paula Martins defends family doctor boost amid immigration

Portugal Health Minister Ana Paula Martins said she is the least popular minister according to the media, but stressed that governing is about responsibility, not popularity. She defended the increase in the number of family doctors, asserting the rise is real despite appearing invisible because of recent population growth driven by immigration.

Martins also highlighted improvements in hospital emergency services, noting they have become more stable compared with two years ago. She pledged to continue implementing the government's health programme under Prime Minister Luís Montenegro while calling for urgent reforms in the health sector.
