Portugal hosts scientific and cultural community events

Various cultural and scientific initiatives were held across Portugal as part of the European Researchers' Night and regional festivals.

In the Porto region, the Municipality of Vagos and the Museu do Brincar participated in the 16th edition of the Festa do Outono at Serralves Park. The event featured traditional games, artistic workshops such as ‘Bonecas Marafonas’, and a net-mending workshop led by master fisherman Alberto Silva to preserve local maritime traditions. The initiative was attended by officials including the President of the Porto City Council, Pedro Duarte.

In the Covilhã and Guarda regions, the University of Beira Interior (UBI) hosted the UBI Science & Innovation Festival. The program aimed to bring scientific research to the public through interactive displays in Covilhã. Researchers presented topics including brain function, circular economy, microplastics, DNA vaccines, and cancer development mechanisms, seeking to connect academic study with daily life.
