European Researchers’ Night initiatives

Overview

The European Researchers’ Night initiative has facilitated various scientific and cultural engagement events across several European countries.

Initial activities included events in Portugal, Italy, and Spain. In Portugal, the Municipality of Oeiras organized science stalls and interactive games. Italy hosted diverse programs, including laboratory tours of nuclear reactors and seismic technology simulations in Rome and Naples, as well as workshops in Pisa. Spain also participated with micro-lectures and scientific shows in Berga.

Subsequent events focused on regional integration in Portugal. In the Porto region, the Festa do Outono combined scientific initiatives with traditional maritime and artistic workshops. Meanwhile, the University of Beira Interior hosted the UBI Science & Innovation Festival in the Covilhã and Guarda regions, featuring interactive displays on topics such as brain function, microplastics, and DNA vaccines to connect academic research with the public.
