Portugal increases ‘Territórios Resilientes’ budget to 80M€

The Portuguese Council of Ministers has approved an increase in the budget for the ‘Territórios Resilientes’ program, raising its maximum allocation to 80 million euros. This decision provides an additional 3.4 to 3.5 million euros to the fund.

The program is designed to finance the recovery and bolster the resilience of riverine and coastal areas that were impacted by severe storms and flooding in January and February 2026. The budget increase follows the expansion of the program to include five new municipalities: Fronteira, Marvão, Manteigas, Nelas, and Santa Comba Dão.

Previously, the program was authorized in April with a maximum budget of approximately 76.6 million euros. The funding, provided through the Environmental Fund, is intended for interventions such as the stabilization of banks and slopes, as well as the maintenance of flood defense systems.
