Portugal introduces new higher education incentive scholarships
Portugal has introduced a new incentive scholarship through the Higher Education Social Action System to support students entering higher education for the first time. Students belonging to the first tier of the Family Allowance may be eligible for a single installment of up to 1,075 €. Applications for this support must be submitted online via the BeOn platform.
In Abrantes, scholarship applications for the 2026/2027 academic year are open from August 17 to September 16. This program, a partnership between the Municipality of Abrantes, the Rotary Club of Abrantes, and the Portuguese Rotary Foundation, targets students from economically disadvantaged families. The annual value for municipal scholarships in Abrantes has been increased to 900 euros per student.
