Portugal's IPMA Issues Maximum Fire Danger Alerts for Eight Municipalities
Portugal’s Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) placed eight municipalities in the districts of Bragança, Guarda and Castelo Branco under a maximum fire‑danger level. The affected councils are Bragança, Vimioso, Miranda do Douro, Mogadouro, Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, Almeida, Sabugal and Penamacor.
In addition, more than 60 municipalities across the country were classified as very high fire risk, including five municipalities in the Portalegre district. IPMA warned that the weather will be partly cloudy with weak to moderate westerly winds, occasional light rain in coastal areas and fog in some inland spots, conditions that could exacerbate fire spread.
