Portugal parliamentary inquiry into Luís Neves to include secure document room

The parliamentary inquiry commission investigating Minister of Internal Administration Luís Neves will establish a dedicated room for storing sensitive and confidential documents. André Ventura, president of the commission and leader of the Chega party, stated that this measure, similar to the model used in the TAP inquiry, is necessary due to the sensitive nature of the subject matter, which includes documents related to criminal investigations and operational or judicial matters.

With the installation of new commissions, the Assembly of the Republic is currently managing four simultaneous parliamentary inquiries: those regarding INEM, rural fires, national exams, and the conduct of Luís Neves during his tenure as director of the Judiciary Police (PJ). While a practice exists to limit simultaneous inquiries to two to protect smaller parliamentary groups, historical records show that the Portuguese Parliament has operated with up to five inquiries at once in the past.
