Portuguese police intervene in several criminal incidents across the country

A 42‑year‑old man was arrested in Moita after allegedly assaulting his mother and resisting police, during which officers seized cocaine, crack and a hammer. In Lisbon, a PSP officer suffered a broken arm after a collision between a police vehicle and a TV‑DE car at the intersection of Avenida da Liberdade and Rua Alexandre Herculano. In Alverca, a 34‑year‑old man was detained for stealing a scooter and assaulting the victim with the victim’s own phone; the stolen scooter was later recovered. A 62‑year‑old woman was taken into custody in Vila Franca de Xira after six years on the run for a 2020 simple‑theft conviction, facing a nine‑month prison term and pending charges in ten other property‑theft cases.
