Portugal President approves extraordinary pension supplement

The President of the Republic has promulgated a government decree establishing an extraordinary pension supplement to be paid in December. The measure is intended to address the rising cost of living and is expected to affect more than two million pensioners, with a total estimated cost of approximately 400 million euros.

The supplement is a one-time payment and will be distributed automatically alongside December pension payments. The amount depends on the recipient's monthly pension:

- Pensioners receiving up to 537.13 euros will receive a 200 euro supplement. - Those receiving between 537.13 euros and 1,074.26 euros will receive 150 euros. - Those receiving between 1,074.26 euros and 1,611.39 euros will receive 100 euros.

Individuals receiving pensions above 1,611.39 euros are not eligible for this support. The supplement will not be considered for the purposes of calculating the Solidarity Supplement for the Elderly (CSI).
