Portugal PS leader urges extension of university admissions deadline
Socialist Party secretary‑general José Luís Carneiro asked Prime Minister Luís Montenegro and the government to meet urgently with the Council of Rectors of Portuguese universities. He argued that, because of ongoing instability in the correction of national secondary‑school exams and pending appeals, the deadline for applying to higher‑education programmes should be extended by one to two days. Carneiro also called for a possible postponement of the second phase of the national exams for the same reason, stressing the need for reliable grades and certainty for students and their families. The proposal aims to ensure a secure and stable admission process while allowing institutions to plan accordingly.
