Portugal reports rising electric scooter accident numbers

The number of accidents involving electric scooters continues to rise in Portugal. Between 2019 and 2025, the country recorded 10 deaths, 88 serious injuries, and 1,442 minor injuries resulting from scooter-related incidents.

While electric scooters have become a common mode of urban transportation across Portuguese cities, they have increasingly become a significant safety concern.
