Portugal tax authority and Cabo Verde service warn of phishing scams

Portugal’s tax authority (Autoridade Tributária e Aduaneira) issued a notice that some taxpayers are receiving fraudulent e‑mails claiming a request to amend their IRS declarations. The messages include links purporting to confirm or cancel the alleged change, as well as false references to automatic recalculation, personal data checks, or electronic invoices. The authority warned that the emails are fake and aimed at directing recipients to malicious sites or illicit payments.

In Cabo Verde, the public service Casa do Cidadão alerted citizens to a deceptive message titled “Official Traffic Fine Notification”. The scam pretends to be from the National Road Police and offers a 50% discount if the fine is paid within seven days via a supplied link. Officials emphasized that the communication is not issued by the state and urged people not to click the link, provide personal or banking details, or respond to the message.

Both alerts stress that recipients should ignore the links, block the senders, and verify communications only through official channels.
