Portugal warned of elevated pollen levels across most regions through June 25

The Sociedade Portuguesa de Alergologia e Imunologia Clínica (SPAIC) issued a weekly pollen forecast indicating moderate to high concentrations throughout mainland Portugal until 25 June. High‑risk levels are expected in the Alentejo region, with dominant tree pollen from olive, chestnut, cork oak and eucalyptus, and herb pollen from grasses, ragwort, plantain, quinopyrum, burdock, nettles and related species. Similar elevated risks are forecast for Vila Real, Coimbra and Castelo Branco, while the Porto and Lisbon‑Setúbal areas face moderate to high levels. In contrast, the Algarve, Faro district and the autonomous regions of Madeira and the Azores are projected to experience low pollen counts.

People with respiratory allergies are advised to monitor daily pollen updates released by SPAIC and follow routine medical guidance, especially on days with the highest outdoor exposure.
