Portugal's Macedos Pirotecnia Wins 2026 Da Nang International Fireworks Festival
Portugal's Macedos Pirotecnia captured the championship at the 2026 Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF), receiving a US$20,000 prize. China’s Jiangxi Yangfeng Art Display took second place with US$10,000, while Italy, Japan and the host team Da Nang (Vietnam) each earned US$5,000 in creativity, promising talent and audience‑favorite categories.
The festival ran from 30 May to 11 July along the Han River under the theme “Da Nang – Connecting Horizons.” Six nights of competition attracted more than 557,000 overnight visitors, each night drawing over 100,000 spectators and a peak of about 117,400 on 27 June. Overall attendance reached a record 2.72 million visitors – a 45 % increase on the previous year – with 52,400 international and 78,600 domestic guests recorded on the final night. Travel + Leisure named DIFF among the world’s nine most‑experienced festivals.
The surge in tourism bolstered Da Nang’s night‑time economy, filling hotels to 95‑98 % occupancy and prompting a rise in domestic and international flights. Organisers highlighted the event’s role in promoting Vietnam’s cultural heritage and positioning Da Nang as a leading Asian festival destination.
