22-Year-Old Foreign National Arrested at Lisbon Airport with Large Cache of Synthetic Drugs
Police of the Portuguese Judicial Police (PJ) detained a 22‑year‑old foreigner at Lisbon Airport on 18 July 2026. The passenger was found carrying several kilograms of synthetic drugs destined for sale at a music festival. Seized items included 250 g of high‑purity MDMA (approximately 2,416 individual doses), 989 MDMA tablets, 900 g of N‑ethyl‑pentedrone (NEP) and 2.5 kg of ketamine, all hidden in his luggage. The PJ said the arrest is part of an ongoing investigation aimed at preventing the entry, transit and distribution of narcotics in Portugal. The suspect will appear for a first judicial interrogation where coercive measures will be applied. Investigations continue under the direction of Lisbon’s DIAP.
