Portugal's New 7 Wonders Finalists: Palace Hotel da Curia and Museu do Azeite advance

The historic Palace Hotel da Curia in Anadia has reached the final stage of the Novas 7 Maravilhas de Portugal competition, representing the 20th‑century category and becoming the only Bairrada heritage site among the regional finalists. The Centre region now fields 14 monuments, museums and landscapes across all seven categories, with the castle of Almourol, the Aqueduto da Usseira and the University of Coimbra among the other noted selections.

In the 21st‑century architecture category, the Museu do Azeite in Bobadela, Oliveira do Hospital, qualified for the Centre Regional Final after the semi‑final held in Leiria. Actor Filipe Crawford acted as patron, urging the public to vote for the museum’s innovative design, which he described as a symbol of regional identity and culture. The museum’s advancement keeps it in contention for the national stages of the competition, which aims to highlight Portugal’s most valued heritage sites.
