SAD do Leixões and its president face asset seizure

The Póvoa de Varzim Central Civil Court has ordered the seizure of assets belonging to the SAD do Leixões football management company, its majority shareholder Play-Fair, and its president, André Castro. The precautionary measure was requested by Brazilian businessman Anderson Fellipe Gonçalves, who provided 18 loans totaling approximately 5.06 million euros between November 2023 and April 2026.

The court set seizure limits of 2.14 million euros for Play-Fair, nearly 3 million euros for the SAD, and 3.34 million euros for André Castro, who acted as a personal guarantor. The ruling cited the SAD’s severe financial difficulties, including negative equity of 10.41 million euros and significant losses, alongside liquidity issues affecting salaries and taxes.

Leixões Sport Club has distanced itself from the ruling, stating that the club and the SAD are separate legal entities with distinct assets and that the club was not involved in the financing operations in question. Meanwhile, the SAD has stated it was unaware of the seizure and will issue an official position once confirmed.
