Santarém hosts regional finals of Novas 7 Maravilhas de Portugal

The regional final for the ‘Novas 7 Maravilhas de Portugal’ competition for the Alentejo and Ribatejo regions is scheduled to take place this Saturday, August 29, in Santarém. The event will be held at the Portas do Sol Garden and broadcast live on TVI.

A total of 14 finalists from the region are competing across seven categories to secure a place in the national semi-finals. The candidates include the Aqueduto da Amoreira in Elvas and the Alqueva Dam in the ‘Grandes Obras’ category, as well as the ruins of São Cucufate and the Casa-Estúdio Carlos Relvas in the ‘História’ category.

Other competing monuments include the Cathedral of Santarém (Religião), the Mercado Municipal of Santarém (Século XX), and the Casa Museu dos Patudos and Salinas de Rio Maior (Turismo). The competition aims to highlight and preserve Portuguese cultural and historical heritage through public voting.
