Portuguese municipalities launch tenders to repair storm damage

Several Portuguese municipalities have launched public tenders to repair infrastructure damaged by severe weather and winter storms.

Mértola has opened a 500,000 euro tender to recover floating structures and navigation equipment along the Guadiana River. The project aims to restore seven docks, including Tamuje, Mértola, and Penha d’Águia, following damage caused by early-year storms. The works include installing articulated bridges, floating pontoons, and safety equipment such as lifebuoys and fire extinguishers.

In Ferreira do Zêzere, two tenders totaling 782,000 euros have been announced to address damage from heavy rains and Storm Kristin. One project, valued at approximately 363,141 euros, focuses on stabilizing slopes and repaving the Castanheira road in Bichardo to restore access to the Lago Azul area. The second project, valued at 418,680 euros, involves the requalification of rainwater drainage systems across 26 locations in the municipality.
