Portuguese police arrest two men in Coruche over 7‑month‑old hit‑and‑run
On 13 July, the GNR’s Criminal Investigation Unit in Coruche, Santarém district, detained two men aged 20 and 23 after executing detention and search warrants linked to a hit‑and‑run that occurred about seven months earlier.
During the operation officers seized a compressed‑air gun, several ammunition cartridges (6.35 mm and 9 mm), approximately 5,055 doses of cocaine and €210 in cash. The action also uncovered offences of animal cruelty, four violations for missing vehicle transponders, one for lack of dog vaccination and one for missing licence to keep a dog.
The suspects were brought before the Santarém Judicial Court for their first hearing and were ordered to provide identity and residence documents. The raid involved the GNR’s Environmental Protection Unit, Intervention Units and the Criminal Information Section.
