Portuguese police close two venues, detain seven in June operations

On 19 June, the Polícia de Segurança Pública (PSP) in the Setúbal district, through the Divisão Policial do Barreiro, carried out a Special Criminal Prevention Operation in the parishes of Baixa da Banheira and Vale da Amoreira, Moita. Together with the Food and Economic Safety Authority, officers inspected two commercial premises, found multiple hygiene and operating irregularities, issued six fines and temporarily shut the establishments. The operation also checked 35 vehicles, issuing five traffic infractions, and monitored 28 individuals in areas linked to drug trafficking.

In Coimbra, PSP actions between 19 and 21 June led to seven arrests. Six arrests concerned traffic offences: three men were stopped for driving under the influence (blood‑alcohol levels 1.28‑1.48 g/L), two men were caught driving without a licence, and a 44‑year‑old woman was detained for disobeying a police order after an earlier alcohol‑related suspension. The seventh arrest involved a 52‑year‑old man suspected of shop theft valued at €609. Police highlighted that these measures aim to improve road safety and deter criminal behaviour.
