Portuguese police seize stolen phones, vehicles and fuel in Lisbon and Algarve
In Lisbon’s Santa Maria Maior district, the PSP detained two men, aged 29 and 34, after a TV‑driver reported that a €1,000 mobile phone had been stolen from his vehicle. The driver pursued the suspects, was threatened with a knife, and the police recovered both the phone and the weapon. One suspect received a weekly court‑appearance order, while the other was placed in preventive detention.
In the Algarve, PSP operations in Portimão, Olhão and Tavira led to the arrest of eight suspects, the recovery of three stolen vehicles and the seizure of more than 1,000 litres of fuel. Six electric scooters were also confiscated, two of which were linked to recent thefts. Investigators are probing possible connections to illicit maritime transport of illegal goods.
