Post-vacation wellness: Skincare and safe return to sports

As the vacation season concludes, experts are providing guidance on transitioning back to daily routines, focusing on skincare and physical activity.

To address skin dehydration caused by sun, salt, and chlorine, specialists recommend incorporating hydrating masks and gentle exfoliants into post-vacation beauty rituals. These treatments aim to restore the skin barrier and improve texture. For body care, dry brushing and nourishing oils are suggested to reactivate the lymphatic system, though intensive laser treatments should be postponed until the end of summer.

Regarding physical health, medical experts warn against the risks of sudden intense exercise after a period of inactivity. Andrea Bernetti, a professor of physical and rehabilitative medicine, notes that the body loses cardiovascular and muscular adaptations after just a few weeks. To prevent injuries to tendons and joints, it is recommended to follow the ‘10% rule’—increasing training volume, frequency, or intensity by no more than 10% per week—and ensuring thorough dynamic warm-ups.
