Poste Italiane enables cardless withdrawals via Postamat ATMs

Poste Italiane offers a cardless withdrawal service through its Postamat ATMs, allowing users to withdraw cash using a smartphone instead of a physical card. To use this feature, customers must have the official Poste Italiane app configured and an eligible product.

The process involves selecting the ‘Prelievo senza carta’ (cardless withdrawal) function within the app and then pressing the ‘9’ key on the Postamat keypad. This action triggers a QR code on the ATM screen, which the user scans using the app's camera. After scanning, the user selects the account, specifies the amount, and confirms the transaction via PosteID or biometric authentication, such as fingerprint or facial recognition.

While the smartphone replaces the physical card for identification, the service does not bypass existing withdrawal limits; the maximum amounts remain governed by the user's specific card or account conditions. Availability of this service may vary depending on the specific ATM and the user's banking product.
