Poste Italiane expands Postamat ATM network in Calabria
Poste Italiane has expanded its Postamat ATM network in Calabria, reaching a total of 483 automated teller machines across the region as of the first half of 2026. The expansion is led by the province of Cosenza, which now hosts 174 24-hour service points distributed among 228 post offices. Other provinces include Reggio Calabria with 128 ATMs, Catanzaro with 97, Vibo Valentia with 53, and Crotone with 31.
These devices offer services beyond cash withdrawals, including balance inquiries, mobile phone top-ups, Postepay card reloads, and bill payments. The machines are equipped with anti-skimming technology and banknote marking mechanisms to prevent theft. This expansion aims to mitigate the decline in traditional banking infrastructure, as Bank of Italy data shows a decrease in commercial bank ATMs from over 40,000 in 2018 to just over 36,000 in 2025.
