Poste Italiane revamps small‑town post offices in Italy under Polis programme

Poste Italiane has reopened the renovated post office in Torano Nuovo (province of Teramo) after completing works under its Polis programme. The upgrade modernised interior spaces and aims to extend public‑administration services, such as passport issuance, to residents of small communes, reducing the need for travel to larger towns.

In Custonaci (province of Trapani), the newly‑presented Polis office includes a photovoltaic roof, an electric‑vehicle charging point, and a high‑security ATM. The branch now offers passport and other civic documentation services on‑site, with the option of home delivery, and operates with extended hours. The Polis initiative targets roughly 7,000 post offices in Italian municipalities with fewer than 15,000 inhabitants, seeking to strengthen economic, social and territorial cohesion through digital and service integration.
