Poste Italiane upgrades rural post offices in Abruzzo and Umbria

Poste Italiane is modernising its network of small‑town post offices under the Polis plan, which targets municipalities with fewer than 15,000 residents. In Isola del Gran Sasso, a mountain commune in the province of Teramo, the renovation will expand services beyond traditional mail and financial transactions to include public‑administration functions, aiming to reduce travel for residents, especially the elderly and families, and to keep the post office as a local social hub.

In the town of Ponte Valleceppi in the province of Perugia, the post office was forced to close after a theft on 4 April caused extensive damage. Local officials pressed Poste Italiane and the Ministry of Economy and Finance for a timetable, and the company confirmed that the office will be repaired and reopened within 90 days, restoring a vital service for the neighbourhood.
