Potential Tropical Cyclone 1 threatens Alabama Gulf Coast as Midwest braces for severe storms

Meteorologists are monitoring Potential Tropical Cyclone 1, currently off the Texas coast, which has a medium chance of developing into a tropical storm within 12 hours. The system is expected to bring heavy rain, rough surf and flooding concerns to the Alabama Gulf Coast, with temperatures rising into the mid‑80s.

A separate warm front is moving north across northeast Missouri, central Illinois and Indiana, setting the stage for severe thunderstorms on Wednesday. Forecasts call for damaging wind gusts of 60‑70 mph, hail up to one inch, and a risk of tornadoes, along with increased flooding potential from additional rain later in the week.
