Corumbá's Povo das Águas delivers over 2,700 services in Médio Pantanal

The municipal "Povo das Águas" program in Corumbá carried out 2,759 health, social and citizenship interventions for riverine communities in the Médio Pantanal between July 18 and July 23, 2026.

Health actions included 162 medical consultations, 256 nursing attendances, 77 dental visits, 348 dental procedures, and the administration of 348 vaccine doses, immunizing 230 people. Social assistance comprised 197 food baskets, 221 Cadastro Único updates, 40 guidance sessions on the Continuous Benefit, rural retirement and identity documents, 12 gas‑program services, and the issuance of 14 public‑policy documents. The teams also gave six talks on child‑labor prevention, performed two home visits, made nine technical referrals, recorded 30 Tutelary Council contacts, delivered six first‑aid lectures, conducted three technical inspections and offered 70 haircuts.

The outreach covered the riverbank settlements of Colônia Cedro, Cedrinho, Corixão, Rio Negro, São Domingos, Porto Sagrado, Porto Figueira and Bracinho. High water levels on the Rio Negro required logistical adjustments, with operations staged on the Taquari River banks opposite Porto Paraná. The program, run by the Corumbá city hall since 2009, aims to extend municipal services to traditionally isolated riverine populations.
