Power outages affect hundreds of thousands in Greater São Paulo

A power outage affected hundreds of thousands of customers in the Greater São Paulo area on Sunday, May 9. At its peak, Enel reported more than 340,000 customers without electricity, including approximately 25,000 in São Caetano do Sul.

Enel Distribuição São Paulo stated that the disruption was caused by an occurrence at a substation operated by ISA Energia Brasil around 2:53 PM. The incident impacted neighborhoods in the East Zone of São Paulo, as well as parts of São Caetano do Sul and São Bernardo do Campo.

According to the distributor, remote maneuvers allowed 99% of the affected customers to have their power restored within eight minutes of the incident. Work continued to normalize service for the remaining customers while awaiting the full restoration of the ISA Energia Brasil substation.
