Latin American utilities implement new tariffs and scheduled power maintenance

In Panama, the National Public Services Authority (ASEP) has implemented new electricity tariff schedules effective from September 1, 2026, through August 31, 2030. To mitigate the impact on consumers, the government is utilizing the Tariff Stabilization Fund (FET) and the Western Tariff Fund (FTO). Approximately 83% of customers will see no increase between September and December 2026, while the state will provide additional support to the remaining 17% to cover price adjustments.

Across Latin America, several utility providers have announced scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs. In Argentina, LITSA is performing maintenance on 500 kV transformer stations in Misiones, which may cause temporary isolation from the national grid and potential rotating outages. Edemsa has scheduled preventive maintenance in various districts, and EPEC has announced service interruptions in Córdoba for network improvements. In Necochea, the Usina Popular Cooperativa is conducting transformer replacements.

In Venezuela, Corpoelec has announced maintenance in Monagas to address hot spots and perform vegetation control, affecting several communities in the San Simón parish. In Peru, ENOSA conducted a simulation and emergency response exercise following a scenario involving the Piura River overflowing and damaging electrical infrastructure in Tambogrande.
