Illinois ticket wins $1.04 billion Powerball jackpot

A single Powerball ticket sold at a Hy-Vee gas station in Quincy, Illinois, has won a $1.04 billion jackpot. The winning numbers drawn on Wednesday, August 12, were 4, 26, 66, 67, 69, with a red Powerball number of 9. This marks the eighth-largest jackpot in the history of the game and the largest prize won so far in 2026.

The winner has the choice between an annuity consisting of 30 graduated payments over 29 years or a one-time lump-sum cash payment of approximately $450.5 million. Both options are subject to significant federal and state taxes.

In addition to the grand prize, several other players won substantial amounts. Four tickets sold in Arizona, California, Florida, and North Carolina matched five numbers to win $1 million each, while a ticket in Massachusetts won $2 million due to the Power Play multiplier. More than 3 million tickets won various smaller cash prizes. The Hy-Vee station in Quincy is eligible for a $500,000 bonus for being the point of sale for the winning ticket.
