Poznań prepares for Saint Martin Street Name Day celebrations

Saint Martin's Day Poznań St. Martin croissants Polish traditions Katarzyna Nosowska

Poznań is preparing for the 32nd annual celebration of Saint Martin Street's Name Day, which will coincide with Poland's National Independence Day on November 11. The festivities, running from 11:00 to 21:00, will center around the intersection of Saint Martin Street and Independence Avenue.

A major highlight of this year's event is the return of the traditional colorful procession, which was held in a stationary format last year due to safety concerns. The parade will involve approximately 300 participants from 24 different organizations, including schools, musical ensembles, and theatrical groups. During the event, the Mayor of Poznań will symbolically hand over the keys to the city to Saint Martin, who will then lead the procession through the city center.

The celebration will also feature a festive town with a market for traditional St. Martin croissants and local handicrafts. Musical performances are scheduled on the main stage at Adam Mickiewicz Square, including sets by Smolik and Kev Fox, with Polish singer Katarzyna Nosowska performing as the evening's headliner. For the first time, the parade will also be available for online viewing.
