Pozo del Maza forest fires contained by unseasonal rainfall

In Pozo del Maza, Argentina, recent unseasonal rainfall has provided critical relief following intense forest fires that devastated vast areas of land and local communities. Hugo Allende, a local councilman, reported that while some small embers remain, the large active fire fronts have significantly diminished due to the unexpected precipitation.

Allende noted that the rainfall was highly atypical for this time of year in western Formosa, where heavy rains are not expected until December or January. Despite the containment of the fires, the environmental impact remains severe, with some areas described as being completely devastated, leaving no standing trees.
