Forest fires in Pozo del Maza, Argentina
Overview
In Pozo del Maza, Argentina, intense forest fires devastated vast areas of land and local communities. While some small embers remain, large active fire fronts have significantly diminished due to unseasonal rainfall. Local councilman Hugo Allende noted that this precipitation was highly atypical for western Formosa, where heavy rains are not expected until December or January. Despite the containment, the environmental impact is severe, with some areas described as being “completely devastated, leaving no standing trees.”
