Pozzuoli earthquake displaces nearly 3,500 people in Campi Flegrei

The Campi Flegrei region in Italy continues to face significant disruption following a magnitude 4.7 earthquake on July 31, 2026. The seismic event, linked to ongoing bradyseism, has resulted in nearly 3,500 residents being displaced in Pozzuoli. While some families have begun returning to their homes, 215 buildings have been declared uninhabitable after inspections by 24 fire brigade teams.

Local authorities have issued 367 evacuation orders. Most displaced residents have secured independent housing, while others are staying in reception centers or local accommodations. The Municipality of Pozzuoli has started distributing financial assistance for autonomous housing, funded by the Campania Region.

In response to the crisis, the Monteruscello Fest has postponed its event from September to October 5–6, 2026. Organizers announced that proceeds from the first evening will be donated to support the community and local initiatives affected by the seismic emergency. Additionally, heavy vehicle transit restrictions in the area have led to the temporary diversion of commercial maritime traffic to the Port of Naples to serve Ischia and Procida.
