Pozzuoli residents protest for aid amid volcanic seismic activity

Residents of Pozzuoli, a coastal town near Naples located in the Campi Flegrei volcanic region, are protesting against the lack of government support following repeated seismic activity. Following a magnitude 4.7 earthquake on July 31, many of the town's 74,000 inhabitants have been forced to flee their homes, with some sleeping in vehicles or facing homelessness.

Protesters gathered at the regional parliament in Naples to demand immediate action. Representing the Pozzuoli esiste ancora network, Salvatore Buonanno called for full funding of earthquake safety measures, support for displaced families, and greater transparency regarding the use of government funds.

Due to the high number of damaged and abandoned properties, residents have begun organizing their own neighborhood watches to protect empty homes from potential looting.
