PPC S.A. advances plans for mega data center in Western Macedonia

PPC S.A. (DEI) is in advanced negotiations with an international hyperscaler to construct a large-scale data center in Western Macedonia. CEO Giorgos Stassis confirmed that discussions are in a mature stage, with the goal of finalizing the agreement for the first phase by the end of this year.

The first phase of the project is expected to have a capacity of 300 MW and is slated to become operational by 2028. The company has already begun planning for the procurement of necessary equipment. Beyond the initial phase, discussions are also underway regarding a potential expansion of the facility to a total capacity of 1 GW, which could follow by 2027.

These negotiations involve complex parameters, including detailed project design and long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs). This initiative is part of the group's broader strategy to strengthen its digital infrastructure and expand its presence in Central and Southeast Europe.
