Prabowo Subianto meets Vladimir Putin at Eastern Economic Forum

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto attended the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok, Russia, as the main guest of honor. During the forum, Prabowo met with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss strengthening bilateral ties across various strategic sectors, including energy, nuclear technology, agriculture, maritime cooperation, and space technology.

President Putin described Indonesia as a key strategic partner in the Asia-Pacific region and a trusted friend within ASEAN. He noted that trade volume between the two nations grew by 12 percent last year and highlighted the existing free trade agreement between Indonesia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). Prabowo proposed doubling trade volumes during the first review period of the EAEU-Indonesia FTA.

To improve connectivity, Prabowo advocated for the establishment of direct shipping and flight routes between Indonesia and Russia. He also emphasized Indonesia's commitment to a free and active foreign policy, stating that the nation does not intend to join any military alliances but remains open to broad economic cooperation. Prabowo underscored that development should be measured by its direct impact on the welfare of ordinary families.
